Guenther Steiner has left Haas F1 Team with immediate effect, after owner Gene Haas opted not to extend his contract following a disagreement on the future of the team. Ayao Komatsu will take his place as Team Principal, with technical director Simone Resta also departing. Reports suggest Steiner was pushing for Haas to commit more resources to the project, and got the sack as a result.

Thanks, Günther. Thanks for taking me on the journey in 2017 and thanks for bringing me on board again in 2022. It has been both fun and tremendously challenging – but never boring. So long and all the best 👊 @HaasF1Team pic.twitter.com/7xcmYeZRbY

Always significant when the departing person is not quoted in the press release, tells you there’s friction, suspect we’ll hear more about this. The team hasn’t progressed in recent seasons, but hard to know exactly why without being on the inside. Good luck Guenther. And Haas https://t.co/dG2VeXiboG

Guenther Steiner’s departure from Haas, and the rate of turnover, means Mike Krack – who was appointed by Aston Martin not quite two years ago this week – is now the third-longest serving #F1 Team Principal.
