■ The Suzuka GP saw Sergio Perez struggling for performance yet again, and while he was included in a couple of incidents that effectively ended his race, his pace was way off compared to Verstappen. Even when he doesn’t make any mistakes during qualifying, being over 7 tenths slower than your teammate in the same car does have the potential to raise some eyebrows for your quality as a driver – and that’s why Red Bull have reportedly been ‘shopping’ for another driver in 2024 – potentially pulling the same move on the Mexican driver as Racing Point did back in 2021. With the Mexican driver struggling so hard to keep the pace and now having the second place in the driver’s championship under a huge threat – one couldn’t help but wonder, was this the last straw for the veteran?
